I am from pencil and paper
from baby cups and pictures
I am from the crazy and fun household
with the smell of pine needles
I am from the creek and the pasture
I’m from big gatherings
And dark brown hair
From Elmer and Alice
And Bill and Gayle
I’m from pigeon-toed feet
Being yourself and having fun
And from staying up late
I’m from being yourself and having fun
And a church-going family
I’m from spending time with family
I’m from Springfield and the farm
Mac and Cheese and Fried Chicken
From a horse-loving family
that ride every chance we get
I am from old and faded pictures
